Addiction
Before everything else, I would like to get one thing straight. I don't have anything against addicts. I just think they're weak. "Weak weak weak weak" ala Fairuza Balk of The Craft.
I thought of addiction as hedonistic in nature, a pleasurable rush of chemicals in the brain. Why do people want to experience pleasure at heightened levels? Just because it feels good?
It is a manifestation of an unbalanced life - to fill a hole. Euphoria opens a gate to escape from displeasure or monotony.
Is addiction natural or is it natural for man to lead an unbalanced life?
Have you ever felt the world pass you by? And that it has left you sad, jaded and unaccomplished; that you can't even grasp everything you seemingly worked for; that all the pounding and grinding has amounted to dust. You don't hate yourself, but seeing your battered arms, you form a resolution. You can't get up because at the back of your head, you know that desolation is waiting to grab you when you're about to stand up.
