The H Phenomenon
You know the era when you went to school and everybody on roll call is named jhonalyn, jhubelyn, rhona, jhubert, jhay are, rhodel, rhobert? Okay, the last one's exaggerated but come on! What happened? Did everyone undergo temporary brain dysfunction or is it the media's fault (I'd like to destroy the whole concept of mass media if they are the culprits)? It's not just the names, I'm not THAT paranoid. Almost everyone from twelve to seventeen years old display the H Phenomenon when composing SMS. Words such as po, ano, ate, kamusta and their contractions are typed as poh, noh, teh, mustah. Good grief! Floating in cyberspace and television "chats" are nicks like mHaldita, skandalosa, gandha, gwahpo, and the like. You get the picture I hope. As of now, I have not formulated a theory as to what caused this social phenomenon.
